Delhi Public School Asansol echoed with pride and exuberance as it witnessed the grand inauguration of the Asansol Sports Academy in collaboration with Shri Laxmi Ratan Shukla’s Bangla Sports Academy on 17th May 2025. The momentous occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Shri Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, Former Indian Cricketer and Chief Coach of the Bengal Cricket Team, along with Mr. Sandeep Karra, D.C.P (ADPC), Mr. Vijay Kumar, GM (CLW), Prem Nath Saha, Former Councillor Kulti, Pranati Das, National Woman Cyclist, Rabi Shankar Choubey founder of Madad Foundation (NGO), Kamalendu Mishra, Associate Vice President Health World Hospitals, Shri Pratik Goenka, Pro-Vice Chairman DPS Asansol, Ms. Vineeta Srivastava, Principal DPS Asansol, distinguished dignitaries, teachers, students and proud parents. The event began with a warm welcome and felicitation of the guests, followed by a heartwarming award ceremony honouring the CBSE Class X and XII achievers. The presence of parents during the felicitation made it a moment of shared pride and celebration of both dedication and support. A significant highlight was the launch of the official Asansol Sports Jersey by Shri Pratik Goenka, followed by the formal inauguration of the Sports Academy by the Chief Guest—marking a transformative stride towards professional sports training and holistic development. An engaging interaction session at the amphitheatre allowed students and parents to converse with Shri Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, who inspired all with his message on resilience, discipline and the value of playing on the field rather than being confined to screens. Pro-Vice Chairman Shri Pratik Goenka reaffirmed the school's dual commitment to sports and academics, also highlighting the EWS initiative offering NEET and JEE coaching by IIT alumni. Principal Ms. Vineeta Srivastava shared her vision to place DPS Asansol at the forefront of academics and sports in the region, with a strong emphasis on STEM, AI, and entrepreneurship. She also announced the launch of the EWS Coaching Programme, offering subject-expert coaching in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics during school hours, while commending the students’ stellar board results. The day featured vibrant cultural performances—a captivating puppet dance, lively theme song and an elegant Indo-Western fusion culminating in a thrilling Women’s Cricket Match where Team DPSA emerged victorious.
