As culture broadens the mind and spirit, equality grounds our vision in justice — together, they shape a society rich in heritage and rooted in fairness. Delhi Public School Asansol held a special assembly to celebrate Bengali New Year and Ambedkar Jayanti, reflecting cultural pride and enthusiasm. The event began with a welcome song echoing the vibrancy of the season. The pre-primary students presented a charming dance, while middle school students showcased a lively performance with traditional props. A poem capturing the beauty of the season was also recited. The assembly concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates of students who excelled in SOF Olympiads in English, Mathematics and Science, along with Spell Bee national-level qualifiers. The highlight of the occasion was the address by the honourable Principal, Mrs. Vineeta Srivastava who reflected on the dual significance of the day. She spoke of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s vision and explained the vital difference between equality and equity —where equality offers uniform treatment, equity extends thoughtful support tailored to individual needs. She affirmed that true justice lies in fairness, a vision deeply echoed in the Indian Constitution while urging the students to uphold the virtues of education, dignity and empathy.
