A Grand Celebration of Strength, Spirit and Sportsmanship

The most awaited and prestigious event of the year, the Annual sports was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 26th January at the grounds of Delhi Public School, Asansol. The event was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Principal ma’am, Ms. Vineeta Srivastava, who declared the Sports Meet 2025-26 open with grace and dignity. Addressing the gathering, Principal ma’am inspired the students with her valuable words, emphasising that education and sports go hand in hand, and that discipline, perseverance and sportsmanship are essential qualities to shine both on and off the field. The entire event was conducted under her able guidance and constant support, ensuring a day filled with energy, coordination and fair play. the celebration was further elevated by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Master Abhinav Shaw, Member of the Indian Shooting Team. A prodigious sports icon, he is the Youngest National Shooting Champion, Youngest Khelo India Gold Medallist, Junior World and Junior Asian Champion. The programme begun with the school song, sung in unison by the DPS fraternity, followed by an impressive drill display by toddlers and senior students and a breathtaking human pyramid. The track events included Shopping race, Ball in the glass, 100 Meter race and Relay race, with enthusiastic participation from all the four houses- Jhelum, Yamuna, Ganga and Ravi. Special parents event, including the Hula Hoop Pulling, added joy and strengthened the bond between parents and students. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, where medals and certificates were awarded by our respected Principal ma’am. Jhelum House emerged as the Overall Champion, while Yamuna House was crowned the Sports Champion. The Sports Meet was formally declared closed by our Honourable principal ma’am , followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks by the Head Boy. More than just a competition, the Sports Day celebrated the true spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience, leaving behind memories and motivation for the champions of tomorrow.
