Freedom is the breath of life for a nation. A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people. Delhi Public School Asansol celebrated the 80th Independence Day with pride, patriotism and a deep sense of gratitude. The morning came alive with the spirited March Past, as the four houses marched with discipline and confidence, setting a proud tone for the celebration. The presence of our Chief Guest, Ms. Adrija Sarkhel, an accomplished footballer who has represented India on both national and international platforms, recipient of several awards including the Best Goalkeeper award in the Karnataka League, added a special dimension to the occasion. Ms. Sarkhel advocated greater participation of girls in sports, particularly football and encouraged young girls to pursue the sport with confidence and determination, highlighting their immense potential to excel in the field. The occasion was enriched by the melodious My India, My Pride and vibrant performances of Viksita Bharatam, Vande Mataram and Ghar Ghar Tiranga, which beautifully reflected the spirit of our nation. Our honorable Principal ma'am, Mrs. Vineeta Srivastava warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Ms. Adrija Sarkhel and lauded her inspiring journey. In her address, she reflected on the values symbolised by the Tiranga—courage, peace and growth and urged the students to uphold them in their lives. She called upon everyone to let the spirit of the Tricolour live not only in every home but also in every heart, inspiring each one to contribute towards a stronger India. The celebration left the students with a renewed sense of gratitude and determination to contribute meaningfully to the nation. The spirit of patriotism, unity and love for the country remained alive, with the resounding call of ‘Jai Hind’ filling the air.
